The Covid-19 pandemic has taken the world by storm hitting every aspect of human life. Not only does the situation point towards a life threatening condition, but also an upcoming global crisis financially, mentally, spiritually, emotionally as well as physically. In these crucial times that humans are facing, together as a country and as a part of the global phenomena, it is absolutely imperative to maintain a positive outlook towards life with a continued hope of a brighter  future free from the fear of safety for us and our loved ones.

Many people find solace in spirituality. One does find comfort in knowing that there is God who will always do what’s best for us looking over us and protecting us. The comfort of faith has proven to be of remarkable significance time and again.

The lockdown has made it very difficult for people to visit temples and other places of worship to pray. This might be disheartening to many, but one should understand the need of the hour as responsible citizens of this country and stay away from going to any places of worship which might attract a crowd and hence the increased risk of catching the deadly Coronavirus.

As is quite often said, God resides in the heart. When you have faith in the divine power, it doesn’t matter which place you go to for prayer. God is omnipresent and can listen to us everywhere all the time. All one needs is belief and conviction in his power and mercy.

The advancement in technology has also brought about a remarkable way out for people who would want to visit the temples of their choice from the comfort of their homes.

You can visit https://www.dinamalar.com/360view_main.asp to visit the temples listed here virtually for a real 360 degree view of each and every corner of the place.

Isn’t that wonderful?

virtual temple visitThe temples listed here include the 360 view of Murugan Temple, Amman Koil Temple, Siva Temple, Sivan Koil Temple, Iyappan Temple, among others.

Mothers Day with prakash silks
Important Days

Celebrate Quarantined Mother’s Day with a gift from Prakashsilks!

by Prakash Silks May 10, 2020
written by Prakash Silks

There can never be enough words that can describe what immensely divine creatures mothers are. Their support, unconditional and selfless love, tolerance and compassion deserves appreciation and gratitude every single day.

Mothers Day with prakash silksThere is a very famous incident regarding Thomas Edison’s mother. So the story says he came home from school one day with a paper given to him by his teacher which was to be read by his mother. When Edison asked what was written in the paper, his mother said the teacher thinks that he is a genius and the teachers in his school are not good enough to train him and hence should be home schooled. Many years on, when Edison became a famous scientist and his mother was no longer alive, he happened to find that piece of paper which actually read that Edison was considered a mentally deficient child and was being expelled from school.

Deeply moved, Edison wrote in his diary: “Thomas A. Edison was a mentally deficient child whose mother turned him into the genius of the Century.”

Such is the love of a mother, folks. We have countless instances throughout history and we ourselves have witnessed as well what great lengths a mother goes to protect her child.

Acknowledging their hard work and their sacrifices is not something that should be happening on a particular day once a year, but everyday, every moment.

Nonetheless, since there is a special day for moms, it is always nice to make her feel special, loved and appreciated.

When we think of our childhood, nostalgia hits us in the form of mothers, their clothing, their fragrance. The pallus of her sarees being too big, shielding us from the sun. Cooking our favourite meals, kissing our foreheads. Was there any sight more beautiful than our mothers getting ready in front of the mirror every morning? I remember being in awe of her. Smelling the fragrance of her favourite perfume, playing with her pallu, admiring the grace of her walk and her voice.

This Mother’s Day, reminiscence in the same childhood glory by gifting your mom a beautiful silk saree from Prakashsilks.com.

Don’t let the ongoing pandemic cause a hindrance to your mother’s Day celebration. Spend time with her, talk to her and give her the best gift that brings a wave of nostalgia to you both.

Mothers are gentle beings. Even the smallest things we do for them have the potential of brightening up their day.

Make her choose from a variety of sarees from Prakashsilks online in the comfort of your home. We promise to deliver as soon as the deliveries are allowed to resume.

A very happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful supermoms out there. May you continue spreading your light to the world!

written by Prakash Silks

With the ongoing pandemic of Covid-19, the world suffers a great deal mentally, physically, emotionally as well as financially. It is absolutely imperative for us to maintain an optimistic attitude in the upcoming days but remain strong and aware at the same time.

Optimism During CoronaThere is a story where once a king asked his subjects to come up with something that could make a happy person sad and a sad person happy. One intelligent man among the crowd came up with a phrase that read “This too shall pass”. How true is that, folks? We have survived so much over centuries. I am sure we will be able to survive this as well and come out stronger together as one. But one should remember, when all this is over, never again should anything in life been taken for granted for it can be snatched away from you within the blink of an eye.

Apart from the positive attitude, one should be aware and take all necessary precautions to avoid the infection as much as possible. Do not violate the countrywide lockdown. It is for your own safety and for the safety of your family, friends, neighborhood, and your country.

The only time that you should leave home is if it is absolutely essential to buy groceries and eatables. Maintaining cleanliness, washing hands and arms regularly and not touching face are some of the must do’s.Taking necessary precautions goes a long way in ensuring the safety of those around you.

We should all keep in mind that this is not a vacation and social distancing is absolutely necessary for this crisis to pass. Avoid dinners and get togethers.

Now let us look at the bright side of this lockdown. We get to spend quality time with family. Engage with your family as much as possible whether through a heartfelt conversation or a board game. Appreciate each other and your life. We are all so lucky to have a roof over our head and food on our table.

While we’re at it, this is a great opportunity to browse online for all the possible wardrobe redesign. We, at Prakashsilks, offer only the best variety and quality of silk sarees that is loved by one and all and can be passed through generations. You can utilize this time to select the perfect saree suiting your personality for a wedding or a special function or just because you feel like shopping. Silk Saree Tips from Experts
Silk Saree Tips

Preserve your Silk Saree using these simple Tips!

by Prakash Silks April 18, 2020
written by Prakash Silks

Have you ever wondered how

Indian mothers and grandmothers have  preserved their most coveted Kanjeevaram Sarees for generations? The Kanchipuram silk is true to its essence with its intricate designs and grandeur.

Silk Saree Tips from Experts

In times like these, when all of us are locked up in home quarantine, it is imperative that we surround ourselves with positive energy and productivity. What better way to utilise our time at home to organise and care for our treasured Kanjeevaram silk sarees?

Let us dive into some tips that you can practice at home to preserve and keep your silk sarees as good as new.

  1. Fold your sarees upside down:

Folding your saree upside down is an excellent technique to keep the vibrancy of your drapes intact. If you wrap your saree the other way, the contrasting colours and different patterns and designs would remain face to face increasing the risk of colour mixup or fading off in the long run. So start off by piling up your kanjeevaram silk and folding them in this manner one by one.

  1. Adding a fall beneath each saree:

A piece of cloth is put at the bottom of the silk drapes, called fall. It can be a cotton fall or a nylon fall matching the colour of the saree. The fall serves its purpose by  helping the saree to retain its shape and fabric especially if the material used in the saree is delicate. The fall of the saree also prevents the bottom stitched part to wear off  as it is mostly exposed to the movement of feet, thus preserving the silk retaining the age and increasing the durability of the saree perfectly.

  1. Prevent wearing off saree by washing delicately:

An effective way to wash off the stain on the kanjeevaram silk is sprinkling some talcum powder at the site of stain and letting it settle for sometime soaking the gel like part of the staining particle. Rinse it with warm water afterwards rinsing the stain in an effective way without having to rub the saree and damaging it in the process. Avoid using harsh detergents. It is preferable if a mild shampoo or soap is used instead.

  1. Use camphor or naphthalene balls to prevent any microbial growth:

Since the manufacturing of silk involves a living organism that’s cultured, the risk of microbial growth is highest in this type of cloth. Preventing a fungal, bacterial or insect growth in your silk saree is essential to ensure its longevity. To avoid this, it is recommended to use camphor or naphthalene balls that can be put in between the folds of your saree. It has an insecticidal and bacteriocidal effect keeping all kinds of unwanted growth away from your silk drapes keeping them fresh.

In case you wish to add on to your exquisite collection of silk sarees, do check out Prakashsilks.com. We are currently not delivering due to the Nationwide Lockdown, but you can search and select from a variety of sarees that we’re offering and we will resume the normal functioning of our store as soon as the curfew lifts. Till then, stay safe, stay home and maintain the positivity.

Saree is an icon to universal power/shakti.  We witness the glory of Indian moms and the boons showered by Mother Durga, whenever we come across a saree.

Are we carrying this heritage every now and then? Most of us are in the view that sarees make us look fat or short. NO… A right fabric, color oozes your dignity, charm and in fact, helps you to set a magnificent trend. The six yards is renowned in international fashion platforms to accentuate feminine grace.

Choosing the right saree makes or breaks an elegant look. Here are a few interesting tips on selecting a saree based on your body type.

Do you have an Hourglass Body?

Women in hourglass body shape are named as the goddess of curves. Struggle as much to maintain this body shape as it is worth the effort. Every saree brings the right charm in any drape, especially for these ladies. Take your charm to the zenith by draping georgette, crepe, net, silk and chiffon sarees.

Set your own style for any saree with a blouse that breathes classy look.

For the Best Pear-Shaped Body:

Sarees compliment your body shape the best when compared to every other style of dresses. Try choosing the georgette, silk and chiffon sarees for every occasion or special moments. You will be the spotlight, as you drape the bold colors and sarees in gentle prints, embroidery, and borders. Your sculpted waistline and upper body accentuate with these sorts of sarees.

Celebrate your Apple Shaped Body:

Saree is the unique romantic attire for every woman. Stay least bothered about your round tummy, full bust as you entice elegance in a perfect saree. The yards of saree help to beautify the extra stomach or bust inches. All your saree woes come true when you have a special silk saree in your wardrobe. Create a dynamic vibe with bold colors. Don’t stop getting attracted to chiffon, georgette, and pure zari silk sarees.

Drape your Athletic Body:

All of us in this busy life is getting lean and most of us have come to this athletic body with a flat tummy, rib cage, and apt shoulder line. Try the silk, cotton or organza sarees as these saree drapes focus on adding glamour to your curves.
